Who Are We?

The New York State Taxpayers Union is a grassroots organization that works and speaks for all New York taxpayers on tax and spending issues. We are committed to protecting every New Yorker's right to keep what they've earned. Our guiding principle is: "This is your money, and the government should spend it wisely or return it to you."

What Do We Believe?

We all must remain vigilant about how our government collects and spends our tax dollars. Elected officials should not cheat taxpayers by wasting our tax dollars on frivolous or unnecessary programs.

What Are We Fighting For?

Our tax code is far too complex for the average taxpayer to understand. NYSTU is committed to fighting for sweeping tax reform designed to make the tax system both fair and comprehensible for the folks who actually pay those taxes.

What Do We Hope To Achieve?

By reforming taxes, we can transform politics as well. There are literally hundreds of lobbyists and special interests in Albany seeking handouts, subsidies, tax breaks and exemptions - all funded with your money. Through real tax reform, we can finally get Albany out of the game of picking winners and losers and finally let the free market work. And we can break the cycle of dependence between lobbyists and politicians.

We here at NYSTU promise to press these and other important issues in an effort to ensure that New York taxpayers are treated fairly. You and I must make sure that we make Government work for us. We must ensure that our elected officials continually recognize that they're spending our money, and we must insist that they do so wisely.
